American dissolution is slowed down by physical isolation. If the US was not oceans apart from all other serious powers, it would've collapsed long ago. But increasingly, we can expect it to be more inward looking.

A single military disaster however, like a botched war with Iran, a naval defeat at the hands of China or a Russian offensive overrunning US troops in the Baltic, could lead to a collapse of the regime.
