The comments thread is, as always, worth skimming for content. This comment by John Regan (comment #145) summarized my own feelings about Anglin.

Unz:

The way I see Anglin, his history and his own writings show that he is an erratic and unstable fellow at best, with a complete disregard for human decency and truth. A lone wolf, and a loose cannon. On the other hand, he is also a propagandist of genuine genius, with a crude but shrewd sense of humor, and his very contrariness and anti-social fearlessness at least sometimes paradoxically coincide to make him one of the most effective truthsayers in this age when the lie has become established convention.

In pop-culture terms, you might say he is somewhat like what the Joker would be if he lived in the world of 1984. Only since Anglin is an online personality, he can be much more over the top than a cartoon character like the Joker, who has to stay somewhat vaguely realistic and plausible for the readers to accept him.

Which is to say, I wouldn’t want Anglin in any sort of position of real authority over me or mine, but I could recognize him as the iconoclast and firebrand he had found his proper niche as circa 2016. (Cont...)

I often wonder if the erratic quality of Anglin's content isn't due to overwork. Hopefully more mainstream exposure, if Unz.com can be described as that, will encourage him to produce more nuanced content.

I enjoy the Unz comment section as well. Thanks for sharing that one.
