Have you ever played football? I fail to see how it does anything at all for masculinity. Fitness and athleticism obviously develop the individual, but I fail to see how something like football does the same thing or how it serves a "pro-social" purpose. To be more specific, I am referring to soccer here, which is what the article is also referring to. I know very little about American football.

Have you ever played football? I fail to see how it does anything at all for masculinity.

I played it so much that I was lucky enough to represent my country at youth level and, among other things, tour Europe. One of the best things I ever did and playing sport taught me many valuable life lessons including self-discipline and dealing with adversity. Of course as well it taught me team work.

Shame. Although my opinion on the benefits of sports for young people isn't just based solely on my personal experience.
