Thanks for sharing but not much was accomplished in this exchanged and it was a little boring. It remained cordial but they seemed to be talking passed each other. I wish MacDonald would have simply asked Spiegler why he thought that Jews needed be the 'chosen' ones to unite the world but I guess such a question is obvious. Has it ever dawned on Jews that the world doesn't need to be united? and especially doesn't need united under Jewish 'leadership'?

My thought as well. To be fair it is a common religious trope. The Buddhists talk about "saving all sentient beings" while Christians are fond of "being a light unto the world." Like much religious teaching it probably has an esoteric and exoteric meaning; the esoteric pointing towards becoming one with the Godhead while the exoteric leads sometimes to compassion and kindness but often to meddling.

I am not sure how many people seriously practice the Kabbalah. I know Madonna got into it for a while. I imagine like many purported ancient practices much of the purported tradition has been invented recently. I don't know how much influence it has on Jewish culture or if the people who believe in it are regarded, like Madonna, as new-age kooks.

Wikipedia link if anyone is interested.

Good insight into the pathological 'Tikkun Olam' mind.
