Why did it happen?

It's obvious that SaidIt has more right refugees, so in fairness and balance it seems rational to limit the right representation on the front page to avoid becoming exclusively right like Voat.

I don't remember. But I'm happy he un-quarantined us. Could be we dominated /all when the bulk of the refugees arrived.

Right

You mean M7 un-quarantined you?

It might have been to attract Voat folks.

If you know a better way to not limit the front page while presenting an authentic reasonably balanced and relatively neutral face to the world, I'm quite sure M7 and the rest of us would love to hear about it.

It's not our (right wing and dissidents) fault that we dominate un moderated and un curated spaces. There is no neutral face. Things are always sliding left or right. I'd be fine with creating an algorithm that allowed larger subs to fall out of the 'hot' zone faster. It would have to apply to all subs though. Power house left wing subs should also have to drop out quicker. This lets new users see the small and medium sized subs easier.
