Trump isn't a traitor. He was surrounded by backstabbers and fed bad information. He has no ability to plan ahead and strategise. Trumps entire Presidency has been defined by one bad mistake after another. It was basically four years of 'out of the fire, into the frying plan', over and over again. The debacle at the Capitol building was simply the final mistake that ended his Presidency.

To put it simply, the Emperor had no clothes, and his supporters didn't realise it until it was too late. Team MAGA had blind faith in Trump, due to years of self-imposed brainwashing about 'muh 4D chess!' QANON made this even worse, because it convinced them there was some grand plan in the background.
