No surprise, it is clear the way moods and opinion is turning Western Europe. Anti-immigration is now the normalised position and those in power are learning they have to appease such sentiment at least nominally if they want to retain power. We can see it with Macron in France, the neo-liberal who will issue some mildly anti-immigration or perceived "racist" statement to make it look like he's doing something about such an issue. Actually even funnier is that it is happening even in Turkey, the country mentioned in this article, anti-refugee/migrant sentiment is high there which is the actual main reason why Erdoğan opened the flood gates to Europe because he was losing popularity over it.

This is nothing but electioneering though, if you think any of these movements are becoming "based" you are wrong. Social democratic parties have to make this appeal so they can retain enough suburban and rural votes to have a possibility to be in power, because they're usually at a net disadvantage in most countries because their voter base is mostly urban, and the liberal conservative parties do not do anything about it as well. For example, Boris Johnson in Britain was elected in 2019 on the basis of a "points-based immigration" system (which is basicially a dog-whistle for reducing immigration numbers) among many of other of his promises but then he reveals his actual plan and there's no migration limit in this system (making it arguably worse than before) and Britain is planning for visa liberalisation with numerous 2nd-world/3rd-world states in post-Brexit trade deals also. Or Macron, what has he done to actually stop migration despite the "populist" rhetoric he likes to make sometimes?

Nah. Some of them are calculated like that but the mood is turning and many of them are turning too. See it through a different lense:
Even if they are lying publicly, they are creating an atmosphere where that kind of rhetoric is allowed and an atmosphere where you can point your finger "exposing" them for not doing enough, which they will have to prove that they are. They can't change the mood turning by appeasing the mood, it will only strengthen the positions. It will allow true believers to reach the top while those promoting immigration wont be allowed to speak publicly. This is very important because it is about changing culture first and then policies will follow from that inevitably.

What were are hearing from Scandinavia goes far beyond what you hear in mainstream British politics, more importantly it is coming from progressives.

In the past Denmark has been less enthusiastic about mass immigration than its Scandinavian neighbors. Here's a 2003 Amren article, titled Race and Immigation in Scandinavia, which examines the issue:

Amren:

Although it is common for outsiders to think of Scandinavia as more or less uniform, there have been sharply different national reactions to non-white immigration. The utter failure of the restrictionist movement in Sweden is in stark contrast to its ringing success in Denmark. Different national circumstances have strongly influenced the outcomes, but a variety of approaches has also yielded a variety of results. There are useful lessons here for all nationalists.
