I think it is going to be a close election for Trump if he wins or a landslide victory for Democrats. Democrats will have more voters because of the hurricane that hit Puerto Rico, felons may get the right to vote in Florida, racial demographics and many voters that didn't participate in the last election will be able to easily vote by mail. It means more non-whites voting in key battle ground states that were close victories for Trump in the 2016 election and we must factor in lost mail and possible election fraud. Whatever the results are I think Trump will be the last Republican president of the United States.

Haven't people always been able to vote by mail anyways?

I thought the drama is that the Democrats want the election to be only vote by mail.

Yes, but in some states one has to fill out an absentee ballot request form that is sent in the mail months in advance. Democrats want to remove that entire process in all states and have the absentee ballot send to everyone by mail automatically. This is a big game changer because high time preference and otherwise uninterested voters will probably participate in the election.
