Can I just say how weirdly refreshing it is to see this story being treated on this thread as a nuanced issue and persons engaging in friendly debate rather than shutting one another down with Groupthink? When this story went viral on Reddit, it was so obvious to me that the video was not the whole story, but everyone was insisting that Amy was a racist monster, and a lifelong animal abuser, and was clearly faking her distress, and anyone who thought differently was just a racist monster like her. It bothered me immensely that everyone seemed to believe she couldn't have been legitimately fearful because she didn't run screaming, it was all her fault for not complying with the man's demands. Threads about how 'white women like her' need to be 'scored [whipped] and publicly shamed'. I don't expect anyone to accept that Amy's behaviour was beyond reproach, but it's so nice to see meaningful discussion.
