She did not file a report. She only called 911. The man threatened her.

Can you post the proof here that he threatened her, or whatever evidence there is? I heard about this but I don't know all the details (as presumably many others seeing this don't.)

Black man: “Look, if you’re going to do what you want, I’m going to do what I want, but you’re not going to like it.”

    Ok, after reading that:

    • She was allowing her dog off-leash in a place it was illegal to do so
    • He was watching birds there, and started to offer the dog treats after saying the line quoted above
    • She then grabbed her dog and called the cops

She has already had her dog taken from her. That doesn't seem right.

    As for the incident:

She shouldn't have had her dog off-leash there.

Was there really a credible threat? I guess I'd have to watch the video but it seems like the threat was pretty clearly solvable by doing what the guy wanted: putting the dog on a leash. If she was scared though she should be able to call the cops for protection, that's what they're there for! It wasn't some random thing, there was an altercation. Is there really evidence that it seemed like a genuine emergency though?

If anything she should be charged for letting her dog off leash. I don't know about him, I don't know that threatening to hurt someone's dog in a context like this is really a crime (is it?), unless the treats he had were actually poisoned.

Who is charging her? What is she being charged for exactly?

I don't really see any evidence that she was particularly "racist" here. I don't see why she was let go of her job. Is this actionable under firing her for being a particular race? I doubt she would have been fired over this if she weren't white.

Do you have a link to Mr. Cooper's video of the incident? What are the laws in NYC regarding filming without consent, especially publishing it?

Why is he walking around with dog treats in his pocket if he's looking for birds?

According to this, he says he carries around the treats specifically to deal with this kind of problem.

News accounts have repeatedly characterized Ms. Cooper as having “threatened” Mr. Cooper. That is the opposite of what happened. We know this because of Mr. Cooper’s helpful Facebook post on the matter, from which I quote:

ME: “Look, if you’re going to do what you want, I’m going to do what I want, but you’re not going to like it.”

    HER: “What’s that?”

ME [to the dog]: “Come here, puppy!”

HER: “He won’t come to you.”

ME: “We’ll see about that.” . . . I pull out the dog treats I carry for just such intransigence. I didn’t even get a chance to toss any treats to the pooch before Karen scrambled to grab the dog.

... I didn't catch that he called her "Karen"... that suggests he does hold some anti-White feeling.

(And yeah, as others have pointed out this level of response to a dog being off-leash would definitely be called "Karening" if it were a White woman doing it.)

Why the fuck was he trying to get her dog away from her? Give me a break. As she said the dog was off leash because they'd closed off the dog walk part, it was a one off improv attempt to get her dog some exercise. If someone tried to take my dad's dog away from him there'd be hell to pay. God damn I just want the White society with sane rules of conduct back. We live in fucking clown world where Blacks are given carte blanche to commit crimes and Whites are penalized for self defense.

We're gonna have to live with whatever precedent this sets too. What if a white guy had done the same thing the black guy did, and it was a black guy's dog who was offleash like that?

Do you have a source for this?

You mean White guy and Black woman? You can be damn sure that Black woman would make a giant stink. The White guy would be charged with the hate crime in that case.

I think it's hard to judge how threatened a women alone in a park with a strange man of any race would feel or how she would react, seeing as she would know she had no chance of fighting back physically.

People have 3 reactions to fear, freeze, fight or flee and you can't really control it. Likely this woman tends towards fight.

However having seen her history she is also crazy so I'm happy to be convinced she is just a mad racist if there's proof. However the guy actually involved seems to think it's more just an over reaction.

This. I would never approach a woman alone in a park if she signaled at all that she didn't want me to. Any woman I know would freak, with good reason. Blacks in Central Park are notoriously dangerous.

Haha, this. When I heard "black birdwatcher" i immediately knew someone was about to deliver a truck load of bullshit.

What's most telling is the man had dog treats in his possession, but no dog? Give me a break. He's an obvious creep, try black rapist instead of black birdwatcher. It's like when that black bum in sweatpants got kicked out of starbucks because he wouldnt buy a $2 coffee and they said he was there for a business meeting.

And that other guy who was just joggin

I agree, this woman over reacted and she is a loony liberal idiot, but she there is no evidence she filed a false police report.

ok I actually read the OP link. Answered some of my questions, sorry.

Right there in the title it can be seen that it's the Manhattan DA who's filing.

“Today our office initiated a prosecution of Amy Cooper,” said DA Cyrus Vance Jr. in a statement.

“Our office will provide the public with additional information as the case proceeds. At this time I would like to encourage anyone who has been the target of false reporting to contact our office. We are strongly committed to holding perpetrators of this conduct accountable.”

And more evidence about the incident:

In a now-viral May video that sparked international outrage, Cooper, a white woman, can be seen telling birdwatcher Christian Cooper she is going to call the cops and “tell them there’s an African American man threatening my life.”

“Please tell them whatever you like,” Christian, who is no relation, responds.

After another pause, she appears suddenly shaken up as she cries: “I’m sorry, I can’t hear … I’m being threatened by a man in the Ramble, please send the cops immediately.”

        Here's the video link

He also said "please call the cops" when she said "I'm going to call the cops". And "thank you" when she did. She made threatening gestures towards him when he started recording her and she asked him to stop and he didn't stop recording. Would she really have done that if she felt threatened? He wasn't coming towards her while she was on the phone, though I know things can change in an instant.

I don't think the "caren act" thing is right and clearly there is a lot of racism towards whites, but we need to keep the rule of law here. She should be fairly tried like anyone, not assumed innocent because she's white and he's black and the Covington thing happened too.

Idk. I feel like it's being exaggerated here how clear cut a case this is.

It does seem like a bad precedent to set that it's dangerous to call 911 when you're not feeling safe. "Racism" isn't a crime, a false 911 call is a crime. I worry about the precedent this would set if people start being criminalized for 911 calls that don't turn out to be that bad.

There is absolutely no comparison between her and Smollett. Zero. She felt threatened because he was menacing her and making veiled threats. Smollett was plain and simple fabricating a hate crime for various reasons.
