I don't feel that article got to the heart of the matter. In difficult economic times people want cash, liquid things with hard value. In fact in retrospect, the media urging people to invest in stocks to hedge inflation seems predatory.

There's too much to say on this matter. It was always a gamble. Anyways, I'm keeping my eye on BAT and SOL. Brave / BAT is useful as an advertising platform, and there's a chance SOL could unseat the big payment processers, but they have had lots of problems.

Because the entire thing runs as a pyramid scheme.

Until a crypto comes out that someone has to trade physical gold or something in to generate and that you CANNOT BUY with any other currency, it'll fail.

The value of crypto - as peculiar and ridiculous as it sounds - is mined via "having a computer solve math problems" So, all the math problems I work on daily to balance books, compute rates of return, forecast electrical usage using probabilities, should be considered worthy of generating some bitcoin.

Why is everything else crashing? It is also in the process of being regulated to death as a safety measure.

Recent embarrassing high-profile failures of other cryptocurrencies due to scams and bugs are making people realize the inherent worthlessness of virtual money backed by nothing

It isn't really worth anything.

Real answer: The WHOLE world economy is crashing and crypto is still somewhat in the risky experimental infancy stage.

...that and the persistent, massive, corporate sponsored FUD campaign.
