They WILL succeed, if perhaps only after quantum computers become a bit more common. GRIN is ahead of that curve, and is said to be QC resistant. Remains to be seen how anonymous it really is though. I'm sure there are some other cryptos out there who pride themselves on being both QC resistant and anonymous, but GRIN is, I believe, the most mature one.
