never donate to charities. don't donate to politicians either, like how Trump the supposed billionaire is begging for small donations from the middle class.

Look up the statistics, Americans are the only people dumb enough to donate to charity, Europeans gave that shit up centuries ago.

Just like they planned. But let's not fight over the crumbs because that's 19k more than hollywood's favorite men's (straight / white) charity.

This is some racist bullshit.

And sexist - as is typical of former Fox critic, Roger Friedman, and his Showbiz411 rag. Anyone on Saidit concerned with who controls Hollywood and and the news media might want to think about why Roger located this groups Form 990, in order to write this article.

Moreover, he's not linked to the Foundations Form 990, a PDF of which is here (cached):

https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwjsudbKnJbvAhVRPcAKHbbPDRYQFjACegQIAxAD&url=https%3A%2F%2Ftimesupfoundation.org%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2020%2F12%2F2019-990-TIMES-UP-Foundation.pdf&usg=AOvVaw0fxpqUIUGNPz7C38yqZ-Of

As with many foundations, operating costs are often 75% of the budget, if not more. Friedman could be outraged by all foundatations that do this, but chose instead Times Up.

The salaries are impressive but not unusual in that 990 form, especially for fund-raising professionals living in LA. That's the market, and it's not the significant portion of the budget Friedman suggests it is. They also do a lot of advertising and promotion, which is a major part of the budget.

Perhaps someone else can look at that PDF (or search: times up form 990) and offer insights about it.

When you give money, it never reach destination.

The only foundations which aren't scams are the foodbanks because you aren't giving money.

yeah that's kind of like how if a homeless person is out begging don't give them money, now if you want to be kind and help them out give them some food, they will often refuse it tho since no one really goes hungry in america, food is cheap, plenty of programs, but they want money for drugs and alcohol.

I still give them money. If you're living in the street, by choice or not, sometimes you want a beer.

I gave out a buck this morning for the first time in forever. I've never been approached in the town I live in now, the guy was begging hard and mentioning the cold, so I gave him a buck.

When I lived in a bigger city where you're asked for money multiple times a day, I never gave out money. It's also easier to just keep walking in a busy city and not acknowledge them, as opposed to this morning at a gas station with no one else around the guy's sort of following and walking up to me in the parking lot. At that point, half of it's less sympathy and more giving a buck to end this interaction.

Well food banks are usually evangelical Christian recruiting centres.

This is how charities are.
