I used to oppose people who claimed all police should be killed, but no longer.

you clearly didn't read the article...

I did skim... Are you referring to the constable "being a good guy"?

Certainly, from my position within the police service, I have seen nothing to suggest that we are properly upholding the oath we all make, and carrying out the duty we have to uphold human rights with fairness, integrity, diligence and impartiality, according equal respect to all.

much of what I have seen in the past few months has made me ashamed of the police service.

every officer must be held to account for their actions, but I fear that a constable’s autonomy, independence and discretion has been eroded beyond recognition.

It is almost becoming a case of “I’m just following orders”

Being a disciplined and ranked service, there is a reluctance to disobey orders or raise objections, officers have a secure income and pension which they don’t want to jeopardise,

I can foresee see a time, in the not-too-distant future, where I will have to make a stand and refuse to follow orders because they conflict with my principles,

For the time being, I will do my best to resist the rapid and destructive changes to “The Job”... I do not know how long this resistance can last.

He damns himself in his own words, and is clearly aware of the reasons to be ashamed of the organization he remains a member of.

we may soon have to bid "Goodnight all", and thereafter view every police officer as a dangerous operative of the state machine.

The author of the article may be lagging behind, but appears to essentially agree the police have become our enemy. Consensus is ever-shifting, but general trends often develop in response to phenomena like disproportionate aggression and violence from the police. I'm not at the forefront of this particular trend, but what I've seen in the past year has flipped my switch.

Note that I'm all for disproportionate aggression and violence from the police in response to violence from actual offenders. When someone is tackled to the ground and beaten by a crowd of cops for not wearing a mask, all of those cops should be killed on the spot. The cops who endorse this behavior by not separating themselves from the gang committing these atrocities need the same treatment.

Police have become our enemy, and perpetuate violent crimes against us on the basis of ludicrously illegal 'orders'.
