Seems like there are 3 options:

1) Epstein escaped, is alive, the dead guy is a body double

2) Epstein was killed by a visitor (after guards were dismissed)

3) Epstein killed himself

I thought the same until I saw the side-by-side. They are not the same man unless someone doctored it, which is entirely possible.
