The public seems not to trust the American government, but can they trust the institution of government to do something worth while? The reason why many people do not trust government is because of a very deliberate, well-funded campaign to make people not trust the institution of government.
Of course, the people within government are corrupt to the bones but that is NOT how it should be. The strategy of deception to not trust government is a deliberate strategy to chase away merit and talent from becoming government workers. Therefore, corporatists can infiltrate congress, government and espeically the executive branches.
The issue is that Government can actually do things efficiently, especially, when there are market failures, like we see in energy, and when there are infrastructure needs. Government has played a leading role in investing and financing infrastructure.
“Government by and for the people,” it’s our government! If we hate the government, we have the enshrined rights as humans to protest them out. We are the government.
The wealthiest zip-codes in the states are in the Virgina suburbs just outside Washington D.C because it is populated with newly minted millionaires and billionaires who are government contractors for the military, for the intelligence agencies, and corporations. SO, what the campaign has been, is to destroy the credibility of the government as an institution, not as a group of corrupt people and infiltrators, and that markets and private industries can do it more efficiently, and the bonus is that these private entities earn a profit, whereas Government does not, and those profitable companies then finance the campaign of the politicians who campaign against government and common law.
This is all done to take activities away from the institution of government, meaning We the People, and hand it to cronies in the private sector to allow them to make a profit.
Market fundamentalism and that markets are gods, that price discovery is sacrosanct; even Adam Smith didn’t argue that. He said, the theory of moral sentiments, that if we ever have marketeers in the same room, they’re going to fix prices.
We have fixed prices in banking, in Health care, the whole economy is riddled with monopolists and price fixers. Understand, that government will always be here, it is just a matter of if you want corporatists to use it for their benefit, or of you want it to work for We the People.
A smaller government implies keeping the government out of the hands of corproate entities that legislate for survviellance, price fixing, monopolies and tacit agreement contracts.
Governemtn should not control your social life, or intervene in your day to day activities. But it is not the institution of government doing such a thing, but the corporatists and infiltrators within it.
there doesn't seem to be anything here
