Before the US invasion of Afghanistan in 2001, the Taliban had almost entirely shut down poppy production in Afghanistan. After a few years of US occupation, Afghanistan now produces 90% of the heroin in the world.

Funny how the US invaded right after the Taliban banned poppy growing. Definitely not a coincidence
