I thought about sharing this since some people here are somewhat skeptical about Putin and if he should be trusted or not.

Mikhail Khodorkovsky had plans of using his influence in Yukos to wreck the oil industry and changing the government with help from the US until he was arrested by Putin. The Russian government took many of his assets.
