coming from a gun nut I can tell you a few reasons why some reasons they jam.

they're not efficient with them. alot of school shooters and crazies just buy or steal them from parents or family members. so you see them limp wristing to holly hell and having the guns recoil control them than them controlling the guns recoil. which in turn leads to stove piping or double feed.

cheap ammo to use during the shooting that has more failure to fire.

using "poverty ponies" or guns that are so cheap that they fail just by having a different magazine or just constantly jam.

firing at a high rate to the point where the gun gums up.

buying new that they fail because of manufacturing imperfections during the assembly and not breaking it in.
