In 1995 a group of natives decided to reclaim the land the Canadian Crown had illegally taken by violating the treaties they had agreed to previously. This was the Ipperwash Crisis - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ipperwash_Crisis.
So what went down? In a nutshell these natives occupy. The OPP, Ontario Provincial Police, send in their guys including a sniper unit of which there was no use for. Of course, why bring snipers to a party if you're not going to shoot? Makes no sense, right? So they do. They shoot a guy, Dudley George, who was one of the occupying /s natives. But they don't just do that. The OPP then prevent his brother and sister from taking him to a hospital. They keep him, wounded, for an hour, and he dies. Thanks OPP! Way to serve and protect!
Of course this doesn't go over well. There's an investigation. The cops that prevented DG from going to a hospital of course see no retribution. It's legal if you're a cop and part of a culture of abusive cops to be abusive, apparently. The actual sniper, Ken Deane, does go under legal scrutiny. And funnily enough, a couple of weeks before he is to testify about what he was told to do, he is rear-ended by a truck and killed. Btw, if you go down this rabbit hole you'll find inconsistencies in the reporting of his death.

"Mr. Deane, who was married with no children, is the third officer involved in the Ipperwash standoff to have been killed in a motor vehicle accident."
So it looks like if you do the dirty for some faceless people, you'll be at risk for getting yourself killed should investigation happen. It doesn't matter if you're "part of the team". There is no team. It's a lie. You're just a tool to be used. And when that usefulness is over, you will be discarded.
Pay attention OPP. This is your culture.
