I've looked at the case a little. It's sad. Looks like they were a fairly happy family and then he just snapped. I think her state or reaction could have helped him along, certainly no reason to do what he did.

It's certainly a case that is emotionally jarring for anyone, and you're right, the media capitalizes on that. I don't think Watts was in on anything.

Charleston was an obvious set up. Everyone knew what was going down as the statue protesters pulled permits. The cops rammed the two groups right into each other, spurring the confrontation.

These single incidents amplified by the media do not mean that suddenly in the past few years that the US is a racist nation. Sad thing is that since people let the media form their world view, they buy into it.
