This is a position that has been around a while. An irrational fear that people who disagree with you are dangerous. It frequently manifests as concern of danger from conspiracy believers. I remember Reddit, since like 15 years ago, had several groups of them that would work together to attack, harass the conspiracy posts and subreddits, while working in team trying to get them banned. I've heard their talking points trying to on-board new people, acting like people questioning 9/11 or various pizza shops, where dangerous like terrorists. Then when that very questionably reported incident, about a guy going into the pizza shop, purported as a conspiracy theorists worried about Clinton child trafficking, but somehow shot a gun strait through the computer hard drive...they took that as proof and would go on about it forever.

they allow, in fact encourage, incorrect view of everything

they hope, that given enough still buy the ball earth, they can convince others that the destruction of such an idea is dangerous enough to lose all their freedoms to maintain

pretty much exactly how denial works

only flat earthers have seen both sides of the evidence, and no one that sees thinks they have been deceived by the information.. but by those that hid it from them

I remember an old black and white 1960's Dr. Who episode ridiculing 'flat earthers' by name. It is a pretty long running joke that helps to discredit people.
