In my life alone (M46). The image and understandings of what and when the great Landwhales were, has changed in Heavy Fashion!!! From leather clad beasts to basically Giant Birds.. I have little faith we know Jack Jazz about the past.... Maybe 200 years back? Then its all War Fog and Rumor fuzz

great Landwhales

Whales are mammals, the last primarily land one was probably Pakicetus. It missed the (non-avian) dinosaurs by about 10 million years. Us mammals are very different from dinosaurs. We're synapsids, and they're sauropsids: Different structures to the skull. The common ancestor was something over 312 million years ago: about 70 million years before the first dinosaur.

From leather clad beasts to basically Giant Birds

Yep. Giant birds were (and are if Ostriches and Cassowaries are giant) dinosaurs.

Common descent has episodes on:

Whales
Birds
Dinosaurs and
Early Synapsids
