The question of age of consent is not about whether it is good for people that age to have sex. It's a question of "If a 12 year old girl has sex with a grown man, is it her fault or was she a victim of child abuse". I think at 12 she knows what she is doing, and if she is going to sleep around at 12 she will sleep around at 18.

Also, if you make it illegal for a 12 year old girl to have sex with grown men, boys her own age can still have sex with her. How is this any better than a grown man having sex with her?

This is why the age of consent is so high. Because anyone who tries to defend a reasonable age of consent will get called names.
