The right's support base was comprised of former democrats, moderates, and the various flavors of full time republicans, one of those factions is the alt-right. Abortion shakes the former dems and moderates. Maybe free speech isn't as important as pro-choice to them. Send some of them back to the other political power base.

Then you put the spot light on the alt-right. Everybody has to denounce them, that costs support. Not denouncing them costs support. And now those fence sitters have abortion and extremism on one side, and free speech and economy on the other.

It is just so incredibly convienient. Like Christmas came early for Democrats. I do believe in coincidences, but this is some timing. I mean, without a shot at the mid terms I bet the donor money has not been forthcoming.
