You don't think that the Chinese influence has grown more substantial than the military's? I'd argue that a free press is antithetical to a free society given how easily the Chinese seem to have taken over. Wouldn't military domination of the press seem justified under those circumstances?

It all depends on the quality of the ruler. Regardless if one is liberal or authoritarian...

The Jesuits could probably create a millenium long world peace, if they wanted, but they are too simple-minded and obsessed like to see beyond their goals...
