Due to the Sumerians passing on a lot of their knowledge to other cultures and a lot of that not being exposed nearly as much as they should I think this is a pretty interesting fact.

The Orion and Taurus constellations are much older than what we are let to believe, It's possible the Sumerians even explored space themselves. Gilgamesh and his friend Enkidu end up fighting the bull of heaven in the epic in order to protect the people of Uruk from the wrath of the gods and manage to slay the creature.

The three pyramids at Giza reflect the configuration of the three stars of Orion's belt. As above, so below.

About 12,800 years ago a meteor shower from Taurus caused the Northern ice cap to melt, whether partially or wholly. That same part of the Taurid Meteor Shower is expected (by some) to come around again at sometime in this century. This might explain why some governments seem to be acting irrationally right now.
