Eff me, I've totally been using Signal, so this piece really got my noggin joggin.

They are openly opposed to FDroid/purely open source versions of Signal. Google is a dependency on purpose. https://github.com/signalapp/Signal-Android/issues/7505

So much for the techno freedom hippie he portrays himself as.

Ha. His github page is pretty blank too. I'm going to bet he was given a bunch of money to start up the program. Yes, it is fishy.

Interesting. I didn't trust it from the very beginning. I nfact, I don't trust anything like that. I do want to trust those behind these encrypted privacy apps but they always turn out to be owned by some crypto Zionist or random hacker/programmer who recieved a large sum of money from Intel or government contractors.

Fully agreed. I need to learn more about these apps. I feel like the fight for end to end encryption is incredibly important and we're at risk of losing it.

This sounds like FUD. It points out ties, but doesn't address that Signal messages are E2EE and that the software is FLOSS. In what way is it supposed to be subverted?
