I believe questioning authorities, all the more when injustice becomes common, is a neccesary thing for ethics to rule an ideal society. When people are taught to conform, they become weak and bigoted towards the people that do want change/revolution.
However, too much freedom can be destructive for society all by itself, I see the caring of forums in much the same fashion. One of the techniques CIA shills use to destroy forums isn't to flood it with disinfo, but rather, subvert the values of the forum and let people destroy it by themselves. This way they don't feel guilty because it is human nature that takes care of their job and they feel it justifies what they do.
This should also teach us that It's important for society to have a certain value system that people should follow. But since it takes a lot of time to figure out what ethics are important, only the most experienced philosophers should get to rule society.
The ideal, adult character in a very advanced society should have mastered how to use philosophy and empirical knowledge very well, to the point that it can guide others when it comes to ethics and rightfully question authority if it tries to become corrupt. It almost seems like a complete foil to what pop culture teaches us about how people should behave.
