I recently learned second hand that there are companies that will be hired for paid actors for demonstrations or counter demonstrations. Sometimes they are hired to provide actors for both sides of the same event. I have heard about this for a while, but recently it was confirmed by someone I know and trust enough to believe.

Yes, I have heard the same. I heard specifically about the Charlottesville, VA demo. The allegation was that Antifa actors and another group they "fought" with later that day, had arrived on the same bus. I should know the group but then Antifa fights with so many groups. Maybe someone can help us out. And thanks for the input.
