I think this constant cycling through one term after another does something useful for the ruling elites. They invent a term like moron, initially only academics used it but gradually it trickles down to the commoners, and once that happens the elites invent a new term like retarded or mentally disabled or special needs.

Its a shibboleth of membership within an intellectual elite. I mean ‘stupid’ and ‘special needs’ usually mean the same thing. But one can signal prestige by using the term that the elites use.

This is why intellectual ‘betas’ are so keen to jump on these politically correct terms. They signal prestige. Its just a snob club. As soon as the term becomes common parlance among working people, intellectuals need a new word to remind betas to start humping their leg again.

Its just a prestige thing. The words for black people is another one. We dont have to use these words people. It wont actually make anyone more intelligent to say people of color.
