“The President is fortunate to get off just as the bubble is bursting, leaving others to hold the bag,” a resentful Thomas Jefferson complained in a letter sent that year to James Madison. “He will have his usual good fortune of reaping credit from the good arts of others, and leaving them that of his errors.”

then we got the fancy new constitution...The new Constitution provided for a much stronger federal government by establishing a chief executive (the President), courts, and taxing powers.

I like the chief executive and judiciary parts, since they create a separation of powers. It's also important that the federal government be able to levy taxes and regulate trade. There's also the Bill of Rights, which we should definitely keep (but probably rewrite to be much less vague, since SCOTUS apparently can't understand what it says).

My problems are:

  • The feds can force laws down the States's throats. The AOC (not that AOC) required that two-thirds of the states agree to a new law, but the Constitution only requires consent for amendments.

  • The federal government can raise an army against the wishes of the states, or even to invade the states as Lincoln had.

  • The Constitution doesn't have a provision to allow Canadian state-hood. I don't think the entire country should be one state, but we should allow each province to become a state — except Quebec.

Since the US is much larger and more culturally diverse than it was back then, I hold Confederalism to be much more important to the survival of the Union, and the preservation of our freedoms, rights, and prosperity.

With the federal government not only refusing to do good, but limiting the ability of the states to do good, I hold Confederalism to be the only way to preserve the Union — should we not return power to the States: the Nation will be torn apart.

The Constitution has, to be frank, failed. While I don't think we should re-adopt the AOC, we should definitely write a new document combining its strengths with those of the current Constitution, while adding new provisions, such as approval voting.

It's also important that the federal government be able to levy taxes and regulate trade. why? the 1860 civil war was started because of taxes and the goverment levving trade restrictions on the south. they blocked coffee! if we really have so much people we could do like a patreon thing for when we want stuff. if we don't want any more tanks made for the army that end up going to police trained by iisrael then no more bitcoin for the army lol...apparently their excuse for the feds was to make sure all the states payed back the army for the revolutionary war. literal fucking bullshit. thats the bankers wanting to get payed back. fuck them all.

I'm a big supporter of strict tariffs, but the North was quite selective on what they sought to tariff — this would be solved by requiring state approval, since unbalanced tariffs would be voted-down by Southern states. No reason to put the federal government in massive debt by banning taxes.

if we really have so much people we could do like a patreon thing for when we want stuff

But if you're a Conservative, they'll take down your page.
