If only people were capable of thinking for themselves, then we wouldn't have people worshipping the science god.

They can. They just don't have the time and power to study everything personally.

And they don't have to if they elect public servants who will implement the approprate regulations on corporations, rather than deregulate the corportations, which has been a trend for 40 years, especially with the GOP.

GOP talk the talk, but does nothing. Nothing can be good, but not when everything is bad.

The very ability to implement regulations is the main source of government corruption.
A government that can't grant monopoly and destroy competition, who would want to bribe it?
A government that can't steal property and freedoms, who would want to appease it?
Only a powerless government can stay pure.

Obey, keep the faith, wear your mask at all time, and pray to St Fauci.

Wait for data once the vaccine's been introduced to the population at large, skeptically assess it, and only then decide to take it. Science works best when distrust is the default mindset, and not only among researchers. If they can get away with shitty study design because no one cares to look carefully for flaws, some will, especially when profits & grants are involved.

Lmao, which flaws are you referring to exactly?

I wasn't referring to a specific study with that statement, only that no one should take it on faith that all studies are properly designed to test the hypotheses they set out to because "science". Sometimes flaws are intentional, sometimes it's just stupidity or limitations beyond the control of the researchers. In the case of the Covid vaccine, everything is preliminary right now. They rushed it out, which means long-term effects can only be guessed at. Messing with mRNA is a novel method: https://www.medpagetoday.com/infectiousdisease/covid19/89998

I trust incentives. In this case, I trust that the "vaccine" will be worse than the supposed cause.

There's a rumor that the vaccine will inoculate against the next disease that is rolled out, which will be much more deadly, so that the only people who survive it are the unquestioning sheep.

Just eat healthy and you won't get sick. I've never been vaccinated and I never get sick. I am also not overweight and I only eat fruits and veggies and some meat in small portions, and some nuts occasionally. The key is to not eat that much. And only eat nutrient dense foods. The body can fight off a lot of stuff if you are in healthy condition. If you are healthy, you prevent the problem from even happening. Of course, if you are old then you are at a great disadvantage because your body cannot recover as fast or be as baseline healthy.

Trusting science is code for blindly believing authority. Nothing to do with actual science.

I trust science. I don't trust big business. there's no contradiction there.

Science is a method. Just because someone employs the scientific method does not make their findings correct or valid. Big business is an economic industry with enough resources to make any "science" sound valid, at least to most of the people, most of the time.

Distrusting science is the hallmark claim of a great scientist. They try to disprove every claim that comes their way. And only when something cannot be falsified do we begin to take it seriously.

Attempting to disprove claims is not "distrusting science", it's part of doing science, which is why i trust it.

The reason I like science so much is because despite my great distrust of everything, it shines through via falsifiability. Having 'faith' in science is about as anti-science as you can get.
