A summary of the changes

1) Facial recognition restrictions: The Terms of Service already state that you cannot collect any information that might identify a person without their permission. While this has always included facial recognition information, the new Terms make that explicitly clear.

2)YouTube's right to monetize: YouTube has the right to monetize all content on the platform and ads may appear on videos from channels not in the YouTube Partner Program.

3) Royalty payments and tax withholding: For creators entitled to revenue payments, such payments will be treated as royalties from a U.S. tax perspective and Google will withhold taxes where required by law.

Yeah, it's kinda crazy. It's intense but it's short. Like a 1 minute trip.

I'm not a youtube consumer as the younger generations are. I sometimes watch music on there but largely it's just, or was, a convenient video host. Which I think is an important consideration because it means a lot more to a different generation, one that is underrepresented. In plain terms, I don't think enough people in a situation to do anything about it care enough to challenge this.

I was using invidio but they went bust. Now using yewtu(dot)be. Inconvenient? A little. But each time I mentally flip the bird to youtube.
