If Bill Gates can't design a reliable computer operating system given 30 years and 50 billion dollars, what makes anyone think he should develop vaccines and run a health-care system?! Good on India for kicking him and his entire network of cronies OUT!

Basically the older I get the more I realise that people aren't separable from their jobs or hobbies.

Gates sees people as being just like PCs. If there's a virus they just need an update. If there's something going wrong they just need a patch. He can't imagine it might be more complicated than that.

If you remember, Gates was once heavily critisized because despite being the richest man at the time, he barely contributed anything to charity. The Bill and Melinda Gates organization was the answer.

He was perfectly happy to do nothing at all.

I think most likely his accountants had a word with him. Charitable orgs are great tax breaks. So he was being honest before then decided to avoid tax like the rest of his set but to most people it looks like he was being bad before and a great guy now.

MIcrosoft as a company still has Gates culture permeating it. He was out of the company when they announced that Microsoft would "solve" cancer by 2026. https://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/gadgets-and-tech/news/microsoft-cancer-cure-research-solved-machine-learning-cells-programming-diseases-a7317616.html

Operating systems are incredibly complex, there's a lot to go wrong.

How can any sane person sleep at night knowing they did this? Don't they say that most CEO's are psychopaths?
