Idk I'm 23 and my friends and I are very political. Like we sit and read articles and fact check sources together. Sweeping generalizations just don't work.

While I applaud the effort, fact checking is not a fool proof method of being right and makes you very vulnerable to becoming arrogant and stubborn. We live in a world in which the printing of money is a power that is in the hands of private individuals. Which means that the systems of power are extremely corrupted and that means the institutes of authority that could once be trusted to be truthful can't any more. Even simple methods like using archives like the way back machine have been taken away as those systems are corrupted and actively censor information.

You have to be able to challenge authority when what is being presented to you is illogical. I'm not trying to judge you, just give a simple warning. Don't fall for the lie that if it's in a text book it must be true, or if a "scientist" says so that makes it proven.

You are a step above the average person, but don't rely on fact checking alone. Don't shut down when someone challenges your sources.

I definitely understand that. I grew up with my mother as a cannabis breeder. She told me before I was even in elementary school that they would lie to me about cannabis for political reasons. The older I got the more in depth she went. My research includes looking at multiple sides and searching to see if there are people saying that what is said to be true is false, then I research that further. Living in America, textbooks are hugely bullshit lies.
