Trump says a lot of shit. I'm not going to worry until something actually happens. But I hope this doesn't happen. It's no good when one party can't accept the other winning, and unfortunately I see that attitude from both sides these days.

There's much more concern on both sides about "our team winning" rather than doing what's actually best for Americans. Each party thinks they have some sort of monopoly on "what's right", so they're both turning to righteous anger to drive their actions. And it's not good, it's just deepening tribalistic attitudes, which is how wars start. We can reverse this though, but it will probably be in spite of our media rather than because of it.

How can we reverse it?

By refusing to buy in to media narratives that serve divide and conquer. It's one of those things that much easier said than done.

So we should ignore the news? What if it turns out to be true?

No we should ignore the narratives constructed around the news. Which is why I try to read as neutral of news sources as possible.

I'm not talking about denying reality, I'm talking about not buying in to stories that people want you to buy in to. Stories that make us easy to manipulate, and lead in to war, and abuse for profit.

"I talked to people ... in touch with the White House on Friday who believe that, if the congressional midterms are very close and the Democrats were to win by five or seven seats, that Trump is already talking about how to throw legal challenges into the courts, sow confusion, declare a victory actually, and say that the election's been illegitimate,"
