I agree. One hold some views that can be classified as left-wing and others that are classified as right-wing views. For example, one may desire a fair distribution of wealth, and simultaneously a strict immigration policy. Moreover, there's a trend to equate the DNC or the left at large with the deep state, and the republicans as the people who are fighting them. This is an absurd view. The deep state has historically opposed the left. Think about the red scare and Operation Gladio, which included false flag attacks that were pinned on communists, as well as the outright assassination of a leftist Swedish prime minister, Olof Palme. I suspect that the left is now allowed to be more dominant, because the deep state has successfully infiltrated it through Operation Mockingbird and the public is given a watered down and confused version that promotes hatred towards whites and especially white males, among other things. It's important to note that various Founding Fathers also opposed the two-party system.

a division of the republic into two great parties … is to be dreaded as the great political evil. - John Adams

Yes, a lot of people here have faith in the Republican party, and they're entitled to their views, of course. I think this is natural because the right is more the voice of reason right now, and that this is by design. In any way, I think polarization levels are still relatively mild here, it's nothing that bothers me too much. We're not Voat or /pol/.

Do you think the polarized division in your country could ever give rise to a third party?

I thought the Tea Party was supposed to be a kind of "pox on both your houses" vote, but I guess any independent voice that dissents from the Left gets easily picked off and branded as "extreme right" because they can't even get along with the Republicans...

I cannot answer this relevantly, because I don't live in the US and don't know enough about their politics.
