Call it what you wish; "Left/Right" or 'R/D'. As you've determined, the labels are meaningless, the principle is what you need to understand.

Weaponized division is the worldwide method of keeping ThePowersThatBe™ in power. Witness the colonial practice of creating 'countries' that always had a minimum of two squabbling tribes. This ensured the 'tribes' would exhaust themselves fighting each other and make it easy for the colonizer to prevail.

Since about 1965, the U.S. has devolved into one of Winston Churchill's map-drawing abominations, and the only thing missing is the identity of the true "colonizer".
