The left/right distinction is as such because we live in a society in which the left controls everything. "Left-wing" is that which agrees with the egalitarianism of our ruling elite; the definition of "right-wing" is then, "not left-wing". Therefore, if you have unorthodox views, you are right-wing by definition - whether you are an anarcho-capitalist, a monarchist, a fascist or a radical centrist, you will be put in the right-wing bucket.

That's what makes it so hard to escape the dichotomy - the very idea of escaping it would be counted as right-wing.

How in the world does "the left" control everything? If that were true, Trump would have been removed from office. It's fairly clear that conservatives run the country, but also play the victim to the point that they have hordes of mindless followers believing everything they say and thinking they're supporting "the underdog" for it.

The left controls:

  • Social media - Reddit, Twitter, Facebook
  • Big Tech - Google, Apple
  • Activist groups - ADL, SPLC etc.
  • Universities - Something like 90% of professors are leftists
  • Hollywood/TV - Constantly pushing for leftist goals, attacking trump
  • HR/PR departments - full of Social Science grads

The legislative power conservatives have is worth nothing in comparison. Under Trump, the culture has shifted leftward at perhaps an even faster clip than under Obama. Now you see communist movements such as Black Lives Matter and associated far-left ideologies such as Critical Race Theory and Queer Theory attaining mainstream acceptance. The fact that these have gained so much ground despite their utter ridiculousness and the election of Donald Trump shows that whoever the figurehead is does not really matter.

In reality, conservatives play a foil to the left; only ever reacting to their narrative framing, and compromising each time so that the left get what they want eventually. If you pick a position on issues and don't budge on them, you'll eventually find yourself on the "far-right".
