That's what hate groups bent on destroying the society that provides for them do.

Hmm. Maybe those guys think that the statues hold special powers and that removal is necessary for some sort of revolutionary or cleansing function. The hysteria of the mob involved in removal definitely points to the subjective notion. As well as perhaps, the people who want to let them stand forever or be cherished.

It's idolatry anyways . I say melt them into cannonballs.

I see two sides without being in favor of either. Yes, there are idols around but they serve as creative references to something objective in a time period. People imply subjectivities and the hysteria for worship or removal of them.

Mount Rushmore for example is a reference to the forefathers, some people will be angered, while others not so much. Learning of the reference is enough, questioning the intent behind idols is fine. Disagreeing with an artifact is understandable. But outright destruction of it is unnecessary, right along with its devout worship. Individuals have spent time crafting it to some artistic appeal, least anyone could do is just respect the artistic hard work and move on.

If anything else, all this destruction and hysteria is immaturity and rage expressing itself to (possibly) later detriment.

Come on. The Taliban destroying Buddhist statues isn't the same as BLM protestors taking down statues of slave traders.

Buddhist statues weren't harming anyone. Slave trader statues are.

Take a look at how Germany handles this sort of thing. They have statues of victims of the Holocaust, not the aggressors. This is the most appropriate way of paying respect to history. Could you imagine being a Jew living in Germany and having statues of Hitler and Goebbels in your local public park? That is how black people currently feel with slave trader statues in the US. Not sure how you couldn't side with them.

Sure it is. It's the same idea. This statue conflicts with my ideology, so I am morally justified in destroying it.

Buddhist statues weren't harming anyone.

Idolatry is forbidden in Islam.

Slave trader statues are.

How, exactly? Is the statue coming out at night and mugging people?

It's not harming anyone. It just offends extremists who think that they can push their extreme positions on everyone. And much like the Taliban, SJWs are supremely unpopular with pretty much everyone other than their own faction.

"Slave trader statues are."

anyone that thinks a inanimate object they see is hurting them is a simple fuck.
