No EMP is ever going to destroy our civilization. That is one of those boogieman threats that people just don't understand enough to disprove. Every nuclear test ever was filmed with video cameras which survived. So even the most powerful EMP device ever set off could not destroy a camera. I can see a power line being able to capture far more radio energy and send a sock wave to some point, but circuit breakers exist. At worst a massive EMP would blow out a bunch of circuit breakers and create a temporary blackout.
