Yes, Canada is a socialist country as are all of Europe and the USA.

...Canada, Europe and the USA are not socialist? Not to mention that Europe is not a single country and that different countries in the EU alone have different labour laws, Socialism implies a considerable level of government ownership of several industries.

You've been brainwashed to believe that socialism is the same or leads to communism...

Socialism and communism are definitely not the same, but they are on the same spectrum, the belief that industries should be nationalized/have a high amount of government control over. Plus, he never mentioned communism.

while in fact [socialism] stands in direct opposition to [communism].

Socialism and Communism both lie politically in the authoritarian left direction, although socialism less so in the auth department. The direct opposition of socialism and communism would be classical liberal/libertarian and minarchy/ancap.

But go ahead, conflate everything into "OTHERS ARE EVIL", it makes life so much easier, right?

he never said that what and yes, people don't like countries that are politically misaligned with their views, what a darn shocker. If you don't like any red state because of their politics, or conservative countries, you are a hypocrite. I'll give a 9/10 chance that's true.

the USA are not socialist

LOL

Every single nation is part socialist and part capitalist. They are inseparable. Do you get "free" healthcare or a "free" police state - or both? Do you have a tax-paid education and/or a military? And of course the government, oppressive or not, gets paid by the people. All of that is socialism.

Socialism always bails out the rich capitalists when they intentionally fail. They are too big to fail, meaning you're too small to succeed. Unless you have a more benevolent socialist governance that will help the middle class and sometimes the poor - but only as little as possible without revolution, including revolution of your police and military.

Communism is totalitarianism. Capitalism is inverted totalitarianism at the top. They achieve the same ends (Big Gov) via different systems.

Exactly. So few people understand these CRITICALLY IMPORTANT ISSUES.

Capitalism is indissociable from Socialism, while Communism lies completely at the other end of the political/economic spectrum from the capitalism/socialism end.

Communism is always extremely authoritarian, whereas capitalism/socialism usually has been much less authoritarian.

But we are seeing a huge rise in authoritarianism. It's not good at all.

Capitalism/socialism usually has been much less authoritarian.

Socialist countries are typically authoritarian. Capitalist... not so much.

Depends what you mean by authoritarian.

Canada is not communist but it is socialist, though not as much as it once was, at least for the people, but in many ways is much more. Canada has more freedoms than the USA, yet at the same time, in many ways has far less. Canada has the most red-tape in the world in general which is especially problematic for small business owners.

I can't speak to socialist Northern Europe and Scandinavia as I've never been there.

[–]DffrntDrmmr 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Absurd.

Canada, Northern Europe and Scandinavia are not socialist.

Yes we are. Now you're being absurd.

Further, there's no more of an authoritarian gesture than to wage war on another nation to bring them "democracy" or some such shit (when they don't even have it themselves). The USA is at war with at least 8 nations right now.

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Ah, if only somebody asked me to clarify what Socialism ACTUALLY MEANS outside of the vast psyop to make everybody believe some COMMUNIST PROPAGANDA definition of the term, then everybody would get along and everything would become clear.

But nobody's asking. Until then, no explanation will be provided and these conversations will run in circles barren of understanding or even agreement.

See how the psyop is doing its thing. But nobody wants out of it I guess? Happy to disagree and not understand each other I guess?

Socialist countries are ALWAYS capitalist. Capitalist countries are ALWAYS socialist. They go together. You can literally NEVER have one without the other. Well I guess you could but then it wouldn't be a country, or a nation. It would be just some strange Mad Max post-apocalyptic world.

Communist countries are always authoritarian, yes. But the commies got to your mind, co-opting the term "socialism" to THEIR uses, installing the virus of communist thought in there long ago, turning you into an unwilling, unconscious but very real advocate of their shit.

[–]DffrntDrmmr 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

Absurd

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Only absurd because you've been brainwashed with a false definition of the word "socialism" that conflates it with communism, when in fact it stands in direct opposition to it.

Case in point, why did the national SOCIALISTS of Germany perform their only aggressive war against the COMMUNISTS? Isn't that strange?

[–]DffrntDrmmr 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

It's springtime. You need to nestle down outside on some green grass and read a little WW2 history.

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Well, when I'll be asked for proof, I'll prove it. And then you guys will all pretend like this conversation never took place. Brainwashing is that strong.

I've done the same thing at various places and that's what always happens. Proof provided, deafening silence ensues, and everyone runs away trying and succeeding at avoiding thinking about how their view of the world has been utterly tampered with.
