You also have a right to life, not just assembly.

If you're the grandpa of one of the kids, and one of them is infected, you can get the disease and die.

Governments are stuck between a rock and a hard place. Enforce, people say you step on them. Let loose, people say you aren't doing enough.

What would you do? Quarantine? Quarantine just a bit? Or leave people alone, at the risk of letting lots of them die?

How about we just quarantine those that are at risk? Surely if theres a big scary virus that most people will recover from with ease but those that are vulnerable might require medical attention and some of them might die it would make sense just to protect the vulnerable. Why should we trash the global economy, destroy pension funds and enslave our children to debt for decades to come just to protect some old and sick people? We could quarantine those people and everyone else would get on with their lives like normal

I think that is a good idea and wonder why it's not more talked about. But some countries have extra strict quarantine for older people. I.e. in Romania where I'm from, they're only allowed to go out between 11 and 13 o'clock.

A problem is, many old people are being cared for at home by working adults. I suppose you would advise quarantining them too?

just to protect some old and sick people

Because they have the right to live, same as you and I! They worked their lives to build what we have now.

How about everyone be free and just do the social distancing thing?

“_Those who give up liberty for security deserve neither._”

The actual quote: " Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety. "

The US has been doing that until March 15th. Notice the exponential increase until then - seen as straight lines in the next-to-last chart here.

You're just a contrarian. Maybe a shill? Why are you here on SaidIt if you're just going to repeat corporate propaganda?

There's no shortage of content on /s/all that shows how Trump and others have completely fucked the pooch with this so called crisis. The economy wasn't strong or it wouldn't have collapsed. He said there was nothing to worry about until he about faced. To say that we are all free is bullshit when clearly people are getting arrested and martial law exists in some places.

Ad hominems. Lovely! How you cleverly dodge my point.

Not really. I needed to sleep. I don't have infinite time / energy / motivation to perpetually argue with someone who can't be skeptical.
