Only the mayor of a mid-size city, at that.

He arrived on the scene claiming to be the most qualified to be president of the United States and leader of the free world due to his 'superior' management experience.

That claim was based on serving as mayor and his job after college.

When the candidates initially came out swinging their identity politics in the first debate, he tried that, too. When he still failed to muster significant minority support he tilted to the center, which is working for him, it appears.

I think he's pretentious. He's certainly audacious.
