They can't resist leaving community growth alone. They must influence it, and change how people think because they can't risk living in a world with different opinions.

Actually it's mainly because their 2020 IPO legally demands it. They're censoring for money reasons and legal reasons, not ideological reasons. I expect things to get worse on reddit as the 2020 IPO approaches.

Explain to me what are the reasons put forward when censoring for ideological reasons? Are they not always disguised as legal and financial?

I don't think they care enough to censor for ideological reasons at this point, all they care about is money. They've sold out, they have no ideology left than greed. They just delete whatever the person who pays them the most tells them to. The ideology of that person may come in to play, but I think reddit itself doesn't care about anything other than money at this point.
