Does disinformation even exist?

If the USA says that Vietnamese communists blew up the ship in the Gulf of Tonkin - was that American disinformation, or did people just want America to shut up?

When I accuse the government of putting out disinformation about the USS Maine in order to start a war. Do I just want the government to shut up? Does my wanting the government to shut up, change the truth about what happened to the Maine? Doesn't the truth about the Maine still exist regardless of whether I want the government to shut up?

Let's say MTG tweets some disinfo bullshit, maybe she tweets that "Putin just wants to shut down the biolabs"

It's true that, if I called out her disinformation, it's true that I just want her to go away. But my desire does not affect the truth about there being no biolabs, or the truth about Putin's war of extermination.

My question is: doesn't disinfo exist outside of my desire or un-desire for the speaker to shut up?

    It takes less time just to say “shut up.“

    It was also an act of treason when Joe Biden said it to President Donald Trump at the debates. Not only that, but it was a violation of his first amendment rights. He should’ve been locked in a military prison right then and there. Trump’s biggest failure as president was not doing so.
