Maybe this is what it takes to get people to stop using them?

    Well done!

Today it is so easy to just do an instant bank transfer online there's little need for Paypal. If you need to take payments try Stripe

    That is clearly robbery.

I think this is fake news, POSSIBLY.

    It is a stretch.

This story is blowing this way out of proportion.

    [–]zyxzevn 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

Yeah. It can be fake. Or some trickery to test the reactions of the public.

I have read the basic user agreements for PayPal, and it does not just say that they can just snag $2500 from an account cuz you say something that they consider to be misinformation.

    Show me.

They've stolen waaaay more than 2500 from accounts they don't like in the name of strange activity.

    That's fkd up.

The white man stole this land from the Indian and the Mexican by use of violence.

They are stealing it back by suffocating you financially.

The white man is being pushed out of the game.

I quit using pay pal back in 2008, well I charged as much as I could then quit paying. Debt collectors can't touch social security retirement or my pension.

How and who is determining misinformation is my ongoing question.

I mean you can go on YouTube and still see video from the MSM about getting a vaccine and thus not being able to spread COVID, clearly false.

So will they suspend accounts for the news anchor now? Corporate accounts? Maybe the camera man? (Err camera person!)

I think we all know very clearly where this is going. Certain misinformation will be subject to these new rules, some will not .

Straight-up CCP stuff. 1984 is fully on-line, Sir.

Pay pall fucked me over before after someone stole my account and they gave me the run around. Fuck them. A curse on everyone who works for them. May they die quickly in extreme pain and sorrow.

Same here and for a buddy in Mexico.

There's no reason to use PayPal in this day and age. Most PayPal accounts are legacy to when there were far fewer payment options.

Conspiracy theories should now all be written in the form of short stories so as to be passed off as science fiction 🙏

"...or any other content deemed objectionable at the sole discretion of Paypal." They can even object to fiction if they wish.

This is only the beginning to a Social Credit Scoring system here in the U.S., if we don't spread the word about PayPal and cancel our memberships before November they will get away with this. Spread the word!

I know I sound like a broken record on any Paypal thread, but holy crap what an awful company. Delete your Paypal account and never look back.

It's actually wild how many people don't care about an issue until they're forced into a situation it screws them over personally. Then they act surprised.

    [–]package 5 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

That seems like it would be extremely difficult to defend in court if someone decided to sue

    [–]Mark_Shill[S] 6 insightful - 3 fun6 insightful - 2 fun7 insightful - 3 fun -  (1 child)

they updated their terms of service, by continuing to use PayPal you are in agreement with those terms

    [–][deleted] 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Yes and these terms have beautifully written clauses such as "...or any other action or content deemed to be misinformation or otherwise objectionable, at the sole discretion of Paypal."

They get to choose when they fine you for imaginary reasons and steal your money and there's nothing you can do about it because YOU AGREE TO THIS BY USING THEIR SERVICES.

    [–][deleted] 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Yeah time to leave this fucking shit behind. Fuck you Paypal.

    [–]Politics_aside 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

So for example, if someone makes the absurd claim the Russians blew up their own nordstream pipeline and the US had nothing to do with it despite all evidence, logic and common sense pointing otherwise, they could be fined 2,500 by paypal?

    [–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

You need a Twatter bot spreading this conspiracy theory to undermine the public believing into it. By taking it ad absurdum.

    [–]Tronski 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

They pulled it. Probably figured stealing is prohibited.

It is man's nature that he is a thief and a liar.

This is true, more or less, for all humans.
