Leaving Twitter

I've been on Twitter since 2009 and I feel sorry for how much it has changed: you cannot speak freely anymore, not because I speak bad words, but because there is always someone feeling offended and/or trying to force you to change you mind. I am really done. Leaving Twitter is one of the best decisions I've made in years.

Oh by the way, I totally find leaving reddit and twitter and facebook as the best decisions of my life too. I go maybe less regularly but when I do feel like reading or sharing something, I use saidit instead of reddit, bastyon.com instead of twitter and gab instead of facebook. All much smaller audiences, but more authentic, certainly more honest, and just better overall experiences and at least you can freely say what you want. I also sometimes use communities.win and wolfballs.com (my favorite just because of the name but its a really small community).

Yeah these places have that early Internet energy I've missed. Uncensored, friendly. A conspicuous lack of wrongthink policing but also less nutty shit than expected. For a while it seemed that any reddit alternative was basically /pol/ but without the sarcasm. And I think it was by design to usher people back to the "reasonable" sites. Paranoid nutter, ain't I.

I left it when they kicked me out of my account when I created an NPC who would regularly say things like "I'm so horrified at the words Trump used at his press conference I had to go to my closet, light a soy candle, and meditate". Those were such fun times, but I was quite hateful and hurtful with such horrible words like that.

When I used twitter they shadowbanned my account so only their bots could see my tweets and replies and put likes on them. I even got notifications that people retweeted my tweets but if I looked on their profile there was nothing of mine retweeted by them. The whole thing is as insideous as reddit and facebook because they are all run by the same cabal of US deep state fascists.
