Because the author used online word processing. Similar things have happened to people using Google Docs and similar products in freer countries as well.

Use local software and have local (including offline) file backups.

Any recommendations for Google doc alternatives?

I use old versions of MS Office products, but the Libreoffice suite is free. Otherwise IDK what to tell you

Seems to be an auto-censor for files that get shared online. Or the document version of Youtube.

I'd like to see the actual script though. VPN is easily accessible and she apparently saved the book. So share it.
